Community Garden

In 2007, Burnie Brae Centre sought and gained approval for the redevelopment of our adjacent park to be established as an area suitable for use by seniors and people with disabilities as well as other sectors of the community.

A significant first stage of this process is the Burnie Brae Community Garden which stands at the top end of the Centre car park. Funded by Brisbane City Council and managed by Burnie Brae Centre the Garden offers unique opportunities for community interaction and participation in a therapeutic setting.

Approximately 300 trees have been planted in the area, including several varieties of fruit and nut trees, and a wide range of rotational vegetables have been planted in the raised beds.

There is currently a core group of community members who are committed to the maintenance and future development of the site and newcomers and other community groups are always welcome.
