Project Pantry

PROJECT PANTRY MILESTONES!

"I have not been to the centre but when my helper arrives with my groceries from you it is just like Christmas every month".

Therese - Project Pantry Member.

Since the inception of the Project in August 2008, Project Pantry has provided more than $350,000 worth of fruit, vegetables, eggs, non-perishable food, personal care and household items to pensioners like "Therese" in the local community.  These groceries and personal care items have assisted individuals to make some small savings on their weekly costs of living, which have been much appreciated by all.

Thanks to the generosity of major sponsor Kedron Wavell Services Club, and the many businesses and community minded people who support Burnie Brae's Project Pantry, over 500 individuals like "John" below receive assistance from the Project each month.

"The Project Pantry is wonderful for pensioners.  Speaking for myself it has helped me in many ways being a single pensioner.  Thank you".

John- Project Pantry member.

A fine example of community organisations working together was the recent announcement that Stafford Rotary Club had nominated Burnie Brae and Project Pantry as their primary beneficiary of the 2009 Artscape Exhibition (run by Stafford Rotary and Padua College).  Pantry Co-ordinators Deb Underdown and Anita Wong were delighted to be invited to attend a special dinner meeting on Wednesday 29th July, to accept a cheque on behalf of the centre for $3500.00.

August 2009 marks the first year this Project has been running, and everyone enjoyed a special Market Day on Saturday the 1st of August, with a delicious morning tea of cupcakes and hot finger food, and certificates awarded to volunteers who help out at the Market Day each month.

"After I finish shopping I sit down and dry my eyes because I am so overwhelmed by your support. I take a few deep breaths, have a cuppa, talk awhile and then I'm off. You even give us all a cup of tea and a piece of cake.  Thank you so much."

Mary - Project Pantry member.
