Home Maintenance
This service provides Information and assistance with home maintenance, minor modification and safety/security issues around the home.
The Home Maintenance Program is available to seniors, the frail aged and younger persons with a disability.
Funding is provided by various government departments
- HOME ASSIST SECURE - Funded by the Queensland Housing
- HACC HOME MAINTENANCE - Funded by Queensland Health
- MINOR HOME MODIFICATIONS -Funded by Queensland Health
- VETERANS HOME CARE -Approved Service Provider for Dept. Veterans Affairs
Type of Assistance
Work is assessed on whether it affects your health, safety or security. It may include,
- Repairs to sticking Windows & Doors
- Installation of security doors, deadlocks and grills
- Installation of smoke alarms
- Installation of rails to bathroom, toilet or steps
- Repairs to uneven paths or steps
- Small ramps and door wedges
- Clearing / repairs to blocked sewer, burst water pipe, or leaking toilet / taps
- Replacement of faulty light switch or power point and installation of Safety switch / Sensor light
- Repairs to fridges, stoves, washing machines
Eligibilty
Eligibilty criteria is set by the various funding bodies, but in general if you meet the following criteria you will be eligible for at least one of the services
For free information you need to be
- 60 yrs of age or over
- Any age with a disability
For financial assistance towards the cost of labour, for minor repairs and minor modifications you must also be
- Receiving an Australian Government pension or
- Have a moderate to severe disability and
- Unable to make use of alternative forms of assistance, such as Home and Community Care, Veterans Affairs, family or friends.
