Volunteering

We are extremely fortunate to have more than 200 volunteers who donate their time and talents to our organisation. We consider our volunteers to be an invaluable support, and endeavour to provide each of them with optimal working conditions, ongoing support and focused direction.

With a wide variety of jobs and functions available, volunteering at Burnie Brae opens a world of opportunities for you to help others as well as gain experience and develop your own skills.

Here are a few of the tasks volunteers undertake each day at the Centre:

  • Visiting clients on a regular basis and providing social support and practical assistance.
  • Assisting our Transport Service by driving clients to appointments using Burnie Brae vehicles or acting as an assistant on one of our buses
  • Supporting our Respite staff by helping with recreational activities and meal preparation.
  • Providing clerical assistance with data entry, photocopying, filing etc.
  • Assist with catering and food preparation for our Respite Centre and Café.
