GOLD Program

Growing Older & Living Dangerously

GOLD is a Brisbane City Council active and healthy lifestyle program which provides free or low-cost activities for residents 50 years and over. Participating in our GOLD program craft workshops is a great way to learn a new skill and meet new people. Burnie Brae in partnership with the Brisbane City Council GOLD program is offering a series of exciting craft workshops in 2019. The low cost workshops are conducted by a qualified craft teacher and all materials are supplied.

Spray Tie Dye

From shirts to towels, this activity provides you with a blank canvas to spray and stencil a mist of creative colour.

 

 

Tassel it up

Create a variety of tassels; leather, multimedia, or decorative. Use them as a key ring, curtain tie, hair tie or whatever else you can think of.

 

 

 

Rag Rug Making

Use old t-shirts and clothes to make a hardwearing and colourful rug for any room. No tools required!

 

 

You on a Plate

Make a plate with your own individual design. Learn how to paint with permanent ceramic paint in a non-traditional way. This can be a memorable item to display or to use every day. Plates and food safe paints are included.

 

 

Upcycle your Local Paper

Learn how to recycle your local newspaper and other recyclables into items such as wallets, clutches and card holders. Reduce waste in an easy and creative way.
