Activities

We are pleased that a number of our Burnie Brae Centre activities have been resumed. Each activity has been assessed by our health and safety team and will be opened at the appropriate time.

• Communal food, including tea and coffee, is unavailable under COVIDSafe planning

Please swipe your Member card and make selections yourself when signing into your activity at the terminal. We have implemented a cleaning regime for the screens in line with our COVIDSafe plan.

 

Unfortunately, some Burnie Brae activities at the Burnie Brae Centre will remain suspended, as they are not possible under the current restrictions from the Australian Government, aimed at reducing the spread of COVID-19. You will notice some of the resuming activities times have changed, which unfortunately may not be suitable for everyone. The time changes are required to allow for half an hour cleaning between each activity as well as to suit the instructors’ availability. We will be in contact regularly with you to advise of any updates to this as they come, as this is an ever-changing situation.

This class is specifically targeted at improving balance and reducing the risk of future falls. It involves a combination of resistance exercise as well as static and dynamic exercise designed to challenge your balance in a safe environment. Exercises will be modified to your ability level. The classes are run by fully qualified Exercise Physiologists from Healthy Connections, the Burnie Brae Allied Health Clinic.

Classes run at the Fitzgibbon Centre, 545 Roghan Road, Fitzgibbon.

Clogging is a percussive dance form that originated in the Appalachian Mountains and has similarities to Irish and Tap dancing. It utilises a wide variety of musical genres including, country, bluegrass, pop, hip hop and even latin.

Classes are conducted by Nathan Ballard and Amanda Lim and are suitable for all levels. Each class starts with 30 minutes of FUNdamentals to prepare any first timers/beginners for Basic class.

This 45 minute class aims to improve your strength and balance - come along and give it a go!

It involves a combination of resistance exercise as well as static and dynamic exercise designed to challenge your balance in a safe environment. Exercises will be modified to your ability level. Clogging is a percussive dance form that originated in the Appalachian Mountains and has similarities to Irish and Tap dancing. It utilises a wide variety of musical genres including, country, bluegrass, pop, hip hop and even latin.

Classes are conducted by Nathan Ballard and Amanda Lim and are suitable for all levels. Each class starts with 30 minutes of FUNdamentals to prepare any first timers/beginners for Basic class.
