For older Seniors who require extra support, Burnie Brae Respite Centre offers a program which includes a range of activities, entertainment and outings in a safe and social setting. Morning tea, lunch, and transport to and from the Centre within designated boundaries is included as part of the daily fee.
Monday Respite
For independent, fun loving seniors who require a small amount of support and assistance This day includes outings to a wide range of venues and locations and opportunity to meet others.
Tuesday – Friday Day Respite
Aimed at frailer Seniors who require extra support from our caring staff and volunteers. The activities are mainly based at the Centre but clients also enjoy bus trips to interesting and appropriate Brisbane venues. This program supports families and carers and provides a familiar and welcoming environment for our clients.
Burnie Brae Men’s Group – Keeping Men Socially Networked
The Burnie Brae Men’s Group was formed in February 2009 to provide suitable specific social activities for men.Modelled like a club, the men who regularly attend have ongoing input into the outings and activities that interest them, based on what the men enjoyed before retirement and their current interests.
Carers Social Group
An opportunity for carers past and present to get together, share information and support one another in the caring role.
Saturday Club
The Saturday Club provides social opportunities on the weekends for seniors who have increasing need for support. These outings are fully organised and supervised by Burnie Brae staff.
Movie Club
The Movie Club is a great social outing with a fun and friendly bunch of movie enthusiasts. The group is specifically for seniors with a need for extra support as the outings are fully organised and supervised by Burnie Brae staff. Wheelie walkers for distance walking can be catered for.
