At Burnie Brae we are passionate about supporting a variety of causes, particularly those which may affect our community. We have chosen to partner with RizeUp, a domestic violence support organisation to support their ‘Homes Program’. The ‘Homes Program’ involves the donation of common home goods, which allows RizeUp to furnish homes for clients moving on from abusive relationships.

Christmas Toy Appeal

When can I donate Christmas gifts?

You can donate Christmas items from November – December.

How do I get involved?

To participate in the toy appeal, purchase a brand new gift or toy and drop it off at reception (60 Kuran St, Chermside). Keep items unwrapped to allow RizeUp and parents to choose gifts that best suit their children’s interests and age. We cannot accept any weapon-related toys, i.e. Nerf guns.

We’ve had overwhelming donations for the young children, not as many gifts suitable for teenagers. Here are some gift ideas you could donate: games, books, sports gear, hair accessories/jewellery/makeup, bags, tech accessories (earphones/headphones), beach items or drawing pads with pens. See below image of some options we found from Kmart for under $20.

Where do I drop my donations?

Place your gifts under the Christmas tree at our collection point in the reception foyer at Burnie Brae Centre – 60 Kuran Street, Chermside. We have convenient, free onsite parking right outside reception as well as a cafe if you wanted to grab a coffee while you’re visiting.

Thank you for your continued support of this initiative. We will be coordinating this effort over an eight-month period, with a donation focus each month, view schedule.
