Burnie Brae’s Home Assist Secure service can help people aged 60 years and over, or people of any age with a disability, who can’t undertake or pay for critical home maintenance without assistance. We aim to provide safety-related information, referrals and subsidised assistance to help you to remain in your own home for as long as possible.

Types of services available:

  • Free information and referrals about home maintenance, repairs and modifications, falls prevention and home security; including referral to reputable tradespersons and other relevant community services.
  • Subsidised assistance for minor modification and critical maintenance work that is necessary, for health, safety and security reasons, enabling you to remain living safely in your own home. Non-essential work (beautification) cannot be subsidised through Home Assist Secure.
  • Subsidised assistance with lawn mowing based on your safety and security needs; some limits may apply

Domestic Assistance

Our domestic Assistance service aims to support clients living in their own homes for as long as possible, by providing regular practical assistance with basic household chores including: cleaning, dishwashing, clothes washing, bed making & ironing. We also offer a flexible, efficient house cleaning service operated by Burnie Brae staff. This comprehensive service can be weekly, fortnightly or occasional. We bring all our own cleaning equipment and products and our friendly staff are screened to ensure that you are in good hands.

Personal Care

Personal care services may support you to stay in your own home. Services may include everyday tasks such as bathing and getting dressed.

Home Visits & Support

Burnie Brae has a strong team of staff who provide care for clients who are socially isolated or need a hand from time to time. Flexible respite either at home or within the community can give carers a break from their caring role. This can be in the form of companionship, access to shopping or medical appointments, social outings, assistance with approved household duties, and assistance with some personal care tasks.
