Home Care Packages Level 2
Home Care Packages Level 2
Tailored for those with low-level care needs, a Level 2 Home Care Package ensures safety, comfort and independence with personalised assistance and care. Whether you need assistance managing household tasks or just a bit of extra support to stay engaged with your community, this package adapts to your unique needs, allowing you to enjoy a safe and fulfilling lifestyle in the home and community you love.
What does a Level 2 Package include?
For those who need a bit more support than what a Level 1 package offers but don’t require extensive help, a Level 2 Home Care Package is a great option. You can expect about 3 to 4 hours of in-home care services each week, based on your specific needs.
Services may include, but aren't limited to:
What is not included in Home Care Package Level 2?
While all service types are available, what you can access depends on your budget and needs. For instance, if you don’t require cleaning, shopping or personal care, you could use your funds for clinical care or allied health services. However, if your budget is fully allocated to these areas, you may not have resources left for extensive medical care or specialised equipment.
Extra support options
If you require additional services beyond what your Level 2 package includes, Burnie Brae allows you to privately "top up" your package budget with your own funds.
A Level 2 Home Care Package is ideal for those who need more than just essential assistance but aren’t ready for the intensive care that comes with higher-level packages. It provides comprehensive support to enhance your quality of life, helping you live comfortably and safely at home without the need for full-time residential care.
Funding for a Level 2 Home Care Package is intended to cover essential services such as personal care, domestic assistance and other personalised support.
The value of the package varies depending on government contributions (view here) and your financial circumstances.
The subsidy amount may be influenced by an income-tested care fee, determined through an income assessment. You can estimate your fees using a calculator that considers your income, assets and household information.
Keep in mind that these estimates are approximate; the final amount will depend on your financial circumstances and the provider you select.
Your Burnie Brae Care Coordinator is here to help you understand the specifics of your package and how to effectively utilise your funding to meet your needs.
The Level 4 Home Care Package is the highest tier available, tailored for individuals with complex care needs. It provides extensive services and increased funding, making it suitable for those who require intensive personal care, specialised health services, or additional assistance with daily activities.

To ensure you receive the right level of support, it’s important to regularly review your care needs with your provider. If your circumstances change, you can request a reassessment through My Aged Care to determine your eligibility for a higher level of support and adjust your care plan accordingly.
Yes, self-funded retirees can access Home Care Packages based on care needs rather than financial status alone. Those who meet the assessment criteria can receive support, regardless of their financial situation.
While the government funds the package, individuals may need to contribute to their care costs based on their finances. This co-contribution ensures care remains accessible while sharing funding responsibility.
To receive a Level 2 Home Care Package, you must first be assessed by an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT). They will review your care needs, health status and living situation to determine your eligibility and whether a Level 2 package is right for you.
Begin your care journey and live life on your terms!
