Home Care Packages Level 1
Home Care Packages Level 1
As we age, maintaining independence and comfort at home becomes increasingly important. If you find that the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) no longer meet your needs, a Level 1 Home Care Package can provide the essential support needed as a next step.
What does a Level 1 Package include?
With a Level 1 Home Care Package you'll receive personalised support to enhance your quality of life beyond what the CHSP provides. Usually, this involves about 2 to 2.5 hours of in-home care services each week, tailored to meet your specific needs.
Services may include, but aren't limited to:
What is not included in Level 1 Home Care Package?
You have access to a variety of services, but what you can choose depends on your budget and specific needs. For example, if cleaning, shopping, or personal care isn't necessary for you, you could use your funds for clinical care or allied health services instead. Just keep in mind that if your budget is already tied up in those areas, you might not have enough left for extensive medical care or specialised equipment.
Extra support options
If you find that you need more services than what your Level 1 package provides, Burnie Brae allows you to "top up" your package budget with your own funds. This flexibility enables you to access extra support tailored to your needs.
A Level 1 package gives you the essential support you need if you’re looking for a bit of extra help to maintain your independence at home. As your care needs evolve, you can transition to Levels 2, 3 or 4 to ensure you receive the appropriate level of support.
The funding for a Level 1 Home Care Package is designed to cover essential services, including personal care, domestic assistance and other tailored support.
The value of the package varies based on government contributions (view here) and your financial situation.
The subsidy amount may be affected by an income-tested care fee, determined through an income assessment. To estimate your fees, you can use a calculator that considers your income, assets and household details.
Please note that these figures are approximate and the final amount will depend on your financial situation and chosen provider.
Your Burnie Brae Care Coordinator can help you understand the specifics of your package and how to best use the funding to meet your needs.
The highest level of Home Care Package is Level 4, designed for individuals with complex care needs. It offers extensive services and higher funding, making it ideal for those requiring intensive personal care, specialised health services or greater assistance with daily activities.
.
Regularly reviewing your care needs with your provider ensures you receive the right level of support. If your needs change, you can request a reassessment through My Aged Care to determine eligibility for a higher level of support and adjust your care plan accordingly.
Yes, self-funded retirees can access Home Care Packages based on care needs rather than financial status alone. Those who meet the assessment criteria can receive support, regardless of their financial situation.
.
While the government funds the package, individuals may need to contribute to their care costs based on their finances. This co-contribution ensures care remains accessible while sharing funding responsibility.
To qualify for a Level 1 Home Care Package, you must first undergo an assessment with an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT). They will evaluate your care needs, health status, and living situation to determine whether a Level 1 package is suitable for you.
Start your care journey and continue living life on your terms!
