Andrew Watson

Burnie Brae CEO

Andrew’s leadership is all about inspiring growth, embracing new challenges, and pushing the boundaries of what's possible for the community.

A seasoned senior executive, Andrew has over 25 years of experience, specialising in leadership, project management, and driving change across various industries. His career has seen him lead transformative initiatives in aged care, food manufacturing, and sports, giving him a diverse and rich perspective on what it takes to create lasting impact.

Holding a Master of Business Administration, Andrew is a strategic thinker with a proven ability to implement initiatives that drive real organisational change. His passion for fostering sustainable value at Burnie Brae is evident in his dedication to developing innovative community programs that make a tangible difference.

Aynsley Johnson

Head of Care & Member Services

Aynsley is a strong advocate for social inclusion and the health and wellbeing of older adults.

With a background in complex case management and leadership roles, Aynsley oversees several of Burnie Brae's aged care funding streams and member services.

She holds a degree in Human Services and Social Science and brings nearly 20 years of experience in the community sector, working across government, private providers, and consultancy, with a strong passion for the not-for-profit sector.

Karen Stewart-Smith

Head of Allied Health | Healthy Connections

Karen is passionate about creating innovative health solutions and building services that connect with the community.

She is dedicated to a vibrant workplace, focusing on education, mentorship and fostering growth to ensure her team delivers exceptional care while continuously evolving.

With her MCEP and BAppSc(HMS), Karen brings over 30 years of experience in the health industry, including 13 years at Healthy Connections.

Annie Hemms

Head of Quality, Risk & Clinical Governance

Annie is a registered nurse with experience across the UK and Australia, working in hospital, primary care and aged care settings. She has called Australia home for the past 14 years, having originally moved from Wales and brings a broad, well-rounded perspective to her clinical practice.

Since arriving in Australia, she has worked extensively in primary care and has spent the past six years leading clinical teams, with a strong focus on improving outcomes for people living with chronic health conditions. Her work is grounded in collaboration, evidence-based care and a commitment to quality improvement.

Alan Smith

Head of Corporate Services

Alan is an accomplished CFO with over 40 years of experience leading financial strategy and business transformation across both public and private sector organisations.

His expertise includes strategic execution, governance, risk management, driving organisational change and building high-performing teams in diverse industries including Property, SaaS, Cybersecurity and FMCG.

He holds a Master of Finance and is a Chartered Accountant (CA ANZ), CPA, Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Justice of the Peace (Qualified) and a Registered Company Auditor.
