Karen

About Me
I’ve been with Burnie Brae for over 3, but I have a total of 19 years of experience in the care field. I hold a Certificate 3 in Aged Care and Disability, along with Certificates in Case Management Skills and Team Leader Skills. Outside of work, I’m passionate about tennis, swimming, and spending quality time with my children and grandchildren. A fun fact: I represented Australia in Indoor Bias Bowls in 1999.

My Journey into Aged Care
My career in care began in 2006 when I saw a job ad for a domestic assistant and decided to give it a go. I loved helping clients and being part of their lives, which sparked my passion for the aged care industry. That one decision has led me to where I am today and I’m so glad I made it!

Why I Love What I Do
I’m deeply passionate about helping clients stay in their homes as long as possible and stay connected to their communities. I enjoy learning about their life stories and doing what I can to meet their needs and improve their quality of life. It’s incredibly rewarding to make a difference in their lives every day.

Danny

About Me
I have been with Burnie Brae for almost five years and hold a Certificate III in Individual Support, while currently completing a Certificate IV in Ageing Support. I enjoy travelling and exploring different cultures (I’ve been on 15 cruises since 2005!). In my spare time, I enjoy the gym, time with family and friends, walking my chocolate Labrador and relaxing at home.

My Journey into Aged Care
I was inspired to work in aged care after caring for an older family member and seeing the importance of compassionate, quality support. I chose this field because it allows me to make a meaningful difference every day, helping people live with dignity, comfort and independence.

Why I Love What I Do
The most rewarding part of my role is building trusting relationships with clients and helping them feel respected, safe, and valued. Knowing I can make a positive difference in someone’s day is incredibly meaningful to me.

My Journey into Aged Care
I’m passionate about helping people and making a difference in their lives. This drive led me to pursue a career in aged care, where I can offer support and care to those who need it most.

Why I Love What I Do
What I love most about working with clients is hearing the stories of their backgrounds and where they came from. Every client has a unique journey, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to listen and learn from them.
