Smoke Alarm Installation
All existing homes, townhouses and units must have interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms installed by 1 January 2027 to comply with new safety regulations. If your current smoke alarms do not meet these standards, now is the time to upgrade!
Through the Smoke Alarm Installation Program offered by Home Assist Secure, you may qualify for subsidised installation of these essential smoke alarms. This program aims to make it easier and more affordable to keep your home up-to-date and compliant with the latest regulations.
If you are eligible, our Burnie Brae team will connect you with a licensed tradesperson who will provide a quote for the installation of the interconnected smoke alarms.
The quote will cover both the cost of parts and labour, ensuring that the work is carried out professionally and in compliance with the new regulations.
To help with upgrading your smoke alarms, you may qualify for:
• a one-time $250 subsidy toward the cost of labour and materials
• up to $500 from your annual Home Assist Secure subsidy towards installation costs.
The Smoke Alarm Installation Program is only available for installations completed before 30 June 2025. Don’t wait—this is your chance to upgrade your smoke alarms and secure the subsidy while you can!
The Home Assist Secure Program also offers assistance with home maintenance, minor repairs and safety modifications to ensure your home is safe and accessible.
Are you eligible for the Smoke Alarm Installation Program?
You may be eligible if you:
Installation must be at your primary residence. Only one subsidy claim per eligible household.
Services must be arranged through a Home Assist Secure provider; no retrospective claims or work by your own tradesperson.
