Burnie Brae is proud to announce we have been awarded Facility of the Year – Health, Wellness & Rehabilitation at the World Ageing Festival 2026, presented by Ageing Asia.

This recognition highlights our ongoing commitment to supporting people to stay active, connected and living well.

Through our integrated allied health and wellbeing services, we provide a wide range of support including physiotherapy, exercise physiology, occupational therapy and remedial massage, alongside group programs focused on strength, balance, mobility and falls prevention.

These services are designed to help people maintain independence, build confidence and improve their overall quality of life.

Central to this achievement is our Healthy Connections allied health approach - developed and refined over the past decade under the leadership of Karen, Head of Allied Health, with the support of Acting Head Rick and our dedicated team. This approach focuses not just on physical health, but on the whole person - supporting social connection, education and long-term wellbeing.

This award reflects a true whole-of-organisation effort. Across Burnie Brae, our teams work collaboratively to deliver person-centred care, from individual therapy and tailored exercise programs to social activities, education sessions and community connections that help people stay engaged and supported.

In addition to this win, Burnie Brae was also named a finalist for Facility of the Year – Active Ageing, recognising our continued focus on helping older people remain active, independent and thriving.

Through a wide range of programs - from fitness classes and rehabilitation to social groups and day trips - we create opportunities for people to stay physically active, mentally engaged and socially connected.

While attending the festival in Singapore, CEO Andrew Watson also contributed to a keynote panel alongside global leaders, exploring the question: can we scale compassion? The discussion reinforced an important insight - while systems and services can grow, it is the human moments of connection, dignity and understanding that truly define quality care.
