FAQs
Day respite care is a supportive service that allows older adults to spend the day in a safe, welcoming and social environment while their carer takes time to rest, recharge or attend to other commitments.
At Club Respite, participants enjoy structured and flexible activities, shared meals and social connection, all supported by a caring team in a comfortable centre-based setting.
Club Respite is designed for older adults who would benefit from social interaction, gentle activities and additional day support. This may include people living independently at home, those who need a little extra assistance during the day, or individuals looking to stay active, engaged and connected within their community.
It is also ideal for those who have a carer at home who may need time to rest, attend appointments, run errands or simply take a well-earned break, knowing their loved one is safe and supported.
Our team can help determine suitability based on individual needs.
Day respite takes place at our Club Respite Centre at Burnie Brae (60 Kuran Street, Chermside), where participants come in for the day to enjoy social activities, meals, outings and connection with others in a group setting.
In-home respite is delivered in the comfort of your own home, where a support worker provides assistance and companionship while your carer takes a break. Learn more about this service.
Both options are designed to provide flexibility, support and peace of mind depending on what best suits your needs and routine.
Club Respite may be accessed through government funding programs such as:
If you receive CHSP funding, you will need a referral code for centre-based respite through My Aged Care.

To access government-funded respite care, you will usually need to register with My Aged Care, which assesses your eligibility and support needs. From there, you may be approved for funded services through either Commonwealth Home Support Program or Support at Home.
Our team is also available to guide you through the process and help you understand each step, making it as simple and stress-free as possible.
