When people come home from the perfect trip, they rarely start by talking about the flights or the hotel.
Instead, they'll say things like, "Everything just worked." Or, "We didn't have to think about a thing."
"That's when I know we've done our job well. If you're thinking about your next meal, your next adventure or simply enjoying where you are instead of worrying about the logistics, that's a pretty good sign," Paul says.
So, how does an experienced travel consultant know when everything has come together just right?
There's a temptation to squeeze everything into one trip, especially when you're visiting somewhere you've always dreamed of.
But Paul says some of the best holidays are the ones that leave room to slow down.
"You don't want to come home feeling like you need another holiday."
A great itinerary has a natural rhythm. There might be a morning exploring a new city, an afternoon wandering local streets and enough time to stop for a coffee simply because the café looks inviting.
The best days aren't always the busiest. They're the ones that feel effortless.
One of Paul's favourite signs that a holiday is going well? An unexpected photo from a traveller enjoying themselves.
"It might be a sunset, a beautiful meal or a smiling couple standing in front of somewhere they've always wanted to visit," he says.
Those photos tell him something important. Travellers aren't calling to ask where to go next or trying to sort out a booking. They're immersed in the experience and making memories.
For Paul, that's one of the clearest signs everything is unfolding just as it should.
No two people picture the perfect getaway in quite the same way.
For one person, it's a quiet beach and a good book.
For someone else, it's wandering through ancient villages, discovering local food or finally ticking a destination off the bucket list.
"One of the first things I like to understand is why someone wants to travel. Once you know that, planning the holiday becomes much easier," Paul says.
Because the best holidays aren't built around someone else's itinerary. They're built around you.
Paul says this is probably the biggest compliment he can receive.
Not because every day went exactly to plan, but because the holiday delivered what the traveller was hoping for.
Maybe they came home feeling rested.
Maybe inspired.
Maybe they've already started talking about where they'd like to go next.
"When someone says, 'That was exactly what I needed,' that's when I know we've helped create something special."
At the end of the day, the perfect holiday isn't measured by how many places you visit.
It's measured by how it makes you feel.
If you're dreaming about a bucket list destination or looking for inspiration closer to home, Paul and Sonja would love to help you plan a holiday that's tailored to you.
