There’s something truly special about Christmas at Burnie Brae. It’s that time of year when our halls sparkle a little brighter, laughter carries a little louder, and our community comes together to celebrate all that makes this season magical.
From twinkling lights and handmade treasures to carols, concerts, and the joy of giving - the festive spirit is alive and well right here at Burnie Brae.
Each year, our Chermside Hall transforms into a festive wonderland for the Burnie Brae Christmas Markets.
Rows of artisan stalls are filled with handmade gifts, homewares, jewellery and festive décor. The air buzzes with the scent of coffee and gourmet treats, live music drifts through the crowd, and there’s always a friendly face to share a chat with.
“This event has grown so much in just a few years. It’s always such a great morning, and we love seeing the community come together,” says Aynsley Johnson, Head of Member & Care Services.
The Members Christmas Celebration is one of the season’s most-loved traditions. It’s a morning filled with laughter, friendship and festive music - featuring performances by the Burnie Brae Choir, Singing Group and Ukulele Group and classic Christmas carols by singing teacher, Christie.
And if smooth vocals are more your style, the Best of Bublé Christmas Experience brings the timeless charm of Michael Bublé to life. Performed by Rhydian Lewis and his incredible big band, The Residuals, it’s an afternoon of swing, soul and pure festive joy that always gets toes tapping and spirits soaring.
For those who love a touch of Christmas magic after dark, the Christmas Lights Tour is a Burnie Brae favourite. Hop aboard, sit back and relax as we explore some of North Brisbane’s most dazzling light displays.
Christmas at Burnie Brae isn’t just about celebration - it’s also about kindness and compassion.
Partnering with the RizeUp Christmas Appeal, we’re collecting new, unwrapped gifts for families affected by domestic violence. Toys, books, art supplies, beauty gifts and vouchers can help bring hope to those doing it tough this holiday season.
We’re also gathering non-perishable food items for our Project Pantry Christmas Hampers, helping local families share in the joy of a festive meal. Every donation - big or small - helps brighten someone’s Christmas.
Please drop any Rize Up gifts or grocery donations to Burnie Brae Reception at 60 Kuran Street, Chermside (open weekdays 8am - 4pm). Cash donations welcome for our Project Pantry - just $5 can help us fill a hamper!
And for a little extra festive fun, our annual Christmas Raffle is full of amazing prizes - from a cruise to home décor hampers - with all proceeds going back into community programs that support Burnie Brae members year-round.
At Burnie Brae, Christmas is about more than just events - it’s about community. Whether you’re shopping at the markets, singing along to carols, or helping fill a Christmas hamper, you’re part of something special - a community that truly shines at Christmas. So come celebrate the season with us!
